Recent changes to public school policy in several states make it either more challenging or impossible to have discussions on topics such as Critical Race Theory, the LGBTQIA+ community, and the different perspectives of this country’s past. Through such repression, many won’t have safe outlets and as a result will not be able to learn in an environment where they can reach their full potential. On the other side, many will become even more close-minded and bigoted. In that way, the supports of the school desk begin to share the function of those of the gallows.
