NICK AZZARO

The Department of Educational Activity and Development (DEAD) is an ongoing series of site and time-specific images featuring an open-face school desk with an upside-down school chair on top. It is a response to the current direction of public education in the United States.

 

This series of photos was created during the self-directed Disposition Residency. This residency had two rules: I could utilize anything in the warehouse before it sold, and all creations must occur in the warehouse or within a 500-foot radius outside of it. I was also allowed to bring in items that did not originate at the warehouse.
