Comfortably Dumb is an ongoing project showing lifeless figures in or near school desks throughout the community of Ypsilanti, Michigan. The statues represent students who have and will graduate despite being underprepared for the professional world, a scenario that continues in Ypsilanti and every community with similar socioeconomics. The perpetuation of manufactured stereotypes that make minorities, specifically Black Americans, seem inferior to White Americans is and has been allowed for too long and the complacency associated equates to acceptance.
